Getting started

You can be walking your first survey within a minute of launching ARRF — no account, no login, and no hardware required, because a fresh install opens in a built-in simulated survey.

1. Install and launch

Install ARRF from the App Store and open it. There is no sign-up and no account — the app is ready the moment it launches.

On a fresh install the survey source defaults to Demo (Simulated), so you can explore the full AR experience before connecting to any gear. See Try it with no hardware.

2. Grant permissions

ARRF asks for access the first time each feature needs it:

Permission	Why ARRF needs it
Camera	To place Wi-Fi measurements in augmented reality — the AR survey view is the camera feed.
Local Network	To talk to your RUCKUS access points over SSH (and TFTP for packet captures). Not used by the demo.
Motion & Fitness	For Find my device, which matches your wave motion against the signal the AP hears.

ARRF requests no location permission. If you decline camera access the AR survey can’t run — you can re-enable it later in iOS Settings → ARRF.

3. Run your first survey (the demo)

1. Open the Survey tab. On a fresh install the source is already Demo.
2. Tap Start Survey.
3. A full-screen “How to run a survey” card appears the first time. In the demo it explains: “Just walk around your space. This demo simulates one Wi-Fi AP at your starting point — signal fades as you move away — and drops a cube automatically as you go.” Tap Start walking.
4. Slowly move the iPhone around the room. Signal-coloured cubes drop automatically as you go — the demo is hands-free.
5. Tap Stop Survey when you’re done. If the walk has at least three points, the Results grade screen opens automatically; the survey is also saved to the History tab.

That’s the whole loop: Start → walk → Stop → Results. A real survey works exactly the same way once you connect your APs.

The survey-help card

The “How to run a survey” card shows on each survey’s first appearance until you tick Don’t show this again (or turn off Show survey instructions in Settings → Survey & capture). It’s a full-screen cover, so the Stop and Capture buttons are only reachable after you dismiss it.

4. Connect to real gear

When you’re ready to survey your own network, pick a source in the Survey lobby’s Where picker — a RUCKUS One venue or Manual AP IPs. The moment you choose either, ARRF switches off the demo and remembers your choice.

• Connecting to your RUCKUS APs — manual IPs, passwords, and the target SSID.
• Setting up a RUCKUS One account — import venues and fetch AP passwords automatically.
