Cube colors, labels, and detail

Each survey cube carries a lot of information. Its fill colour encodes a metric you choose; its edge outline always identifies the serving access point; and it can spell out values as text when you’re close.

Change the active mode from the colour chip in the survey HUD, or in Settings → Display → Cube colours. Existing cubes recolour instantly. There are five modes:

All five are fed by the standard survey poll — none needs deep RF stats. Band mode shows exactly where the phone holds 6 GHz and where it falls back.

The HUD shows a legend for the active mode. Ramp modes draw a red→green bar with the four grade names beneath and clamped end labels (for example ≤ −85≥ −60 dBm). Band mode draws coloured swatches. In Signal mode the AR view shows a per-AP outline-colour key instead — the AR-unique way to tell which cube belongs to which AP — with the roam count at the end.

Cubes label themselves by distance so a dense trail stays readable:

  • Near (within ~2 m) — the full set of fields you chose.
  • Mid (~2–5 m) — just the active colour metric’s value.
  • Far (beyond ~5 m) — colour only, no text.

A small white band tag (2.4 / 5 / 6) always rides in the corner of near and mid cubes.

Choose the near-label fields in Settings → Display → Cube label fields — pick up to four of: AP name, Signal (dBm), SNR (dB), Uplink rate ↑, Downlink rate ↓. The default set is AP name, Signal, Uplink rate, and Downlink rate.

Tap any placed cube to open its Signal here detail card:

  • Signal — RSSI and SNR with grades, RSSI spread, and a note that these are how the AP hears the phone (uplink).
  • Link — uplink/downlink rates, band, channel and width, PHY, spatial streams, and MLO.
  • Serving radio — the AP’s airtime-busy percentage and channel plan.

Turn on Settings → Survey & capture → Deep RF stats per cube to enrich each cube on the serving AP with extra radio detail — uplink SNR, PHY link rate, and MCS index/width/streams. These appear in the cube’s Uplink modulation and Radio PHY snapshot detail sections, and land in the export.

Deep stats are off by default because each cube costs one extra query to the AP. MCS is not a colour mode — it lives only in the tap-detail.

On a LiDAR iPhone, Settings → Display → Behind walls controls how cubes hidden behind detected walls are drawn: Off (walls ignored), Hide (fully occluded), or Dimmed (a faint ghost shows through so data stays visible while depth still reads). On non-LiDAR devices this has no effect.
