Toolbox utilities

The Toolbox tab is a set of diagnostics for the RUCKUS APs you administer. Every tool reads live APs over SSH, and nine of the ten only read — they run get commands and change nothing on the AP.

Packet capture is the one exception

Packet capture puts one radio into capture mode for a few seconds (set capture wifiN …), then returns it to idle. Nothing is saved to the AP’s configuration and the radio is always released — but it is a change to a live radio, so treat it as an active tool rather than a read. The other nine tools never issue anything but reads.

No tool anywhere in ARRF writes AP configuration: there is no way to change a channel, a power level, an SSID, or any other setting from the app.

What the Toolbox needs

Every tool needs at least one reachable AP over SSH. The APs come from either a selected RUCKUS One venue or manual AP IPs — either source works; RUCKUS One is not required. With no gear connected, the tools can’t run, so the Toolbox instead shows See sample results — a gallery of bundled screenshots of the tools in use.

Unlike the Survey tab, the Toolbox has no simulated mode — its tools read real APs.

The tools

Tools come in two shapes: fleet tools run across every connected AP at once; per-AP tools ask you to pick one AP first (or go straight in if there’s only one).

Health & infrastructure

Health check	Per-AP	Read-only triage of one AP — power, uplink, addressing, reachability, SSIDs, stability — graded pass/warn/fail; tap a check for the raw output. (~20 seconds.)
Fleet stability	Fleet	Uptime, panics, recovery boots, flash wear, and silent uplink flaps across every AP.
Wire & power map	Fleet	Per-AP switch, port, VLAN, and PoE draw; flags uplink single points of failure, VLAN mismatches, and slow links.
Path & DNS doctor	Fleet	Pings the gateway and internet, times DNS, and traces the path — answering “is it the Wi-Fi or the uplink?”

RF advisor	Fleet	Every radio’s channel, measured airtime, and TX power; co-channel conflicts flagged.
Relationship web	Fleet	Which APs hear each other, contend on a channel, or share a BSS colour.
Rogue radar	Fleet	Neighbouring networks and flagged threats from the APs’ intrusion-detection tables.
