Limits and quotas

ARRF’s limits fall into four areas: the free trial, the test server behind internet tests, the survey itself, and RUCKUS connections. Each table below gives the exact number the app enforces.

14 days or 3 surveys, whichever comes first. After that, new surveys (the demo excepted), vendor packs, Toolbox tools and cloud tests need the one-time unlock. History, Results, the floor-plan viewers and every export stay open.

LimitValueNotes
Trial length14 daysStarts when you claim the free trial.
Trial surveys3Only a real survey with at least 3 cubes counts; the demo never does.
Survey counterStored in the KeychainDeleting and reinstalling the app doesn’t reset it on that device.

See Free trial and unlock.

Cloud tests share one fair-use allowance per install: 100 GiB over a rolling 7 days, the same on the trial and unlocked. The test server is the one internet tests use (arrf-probe.neuralconfig.com by default). Turning Internet tests off never contacts it; a local iperf3 server isn’t counted.

LimitValueNotes
Data allowance100 GiB per rolling 7 daysPer install, the same for the trial and unlocked. Downloads, Internet-call traffic and uploads that finish count. Speed-test uploads are stopped at their time limit, before the server sees them, so they rarely count. A survey’s download bursts count roughly 1 MB per minute for every Mbps of connection speed, so a 300 Mbps line counts about 0.35 GB a minute.
When it frees upGraduallyEach UTC day’s usage drops out of the window 7 days later, so the allowance comes back a day at a time.
When it runs outBursts pauseIn ARRF 1.1 and later, during a survey ARRF shows a one-time notice with the time tests resume, and stops speed and Internet call tests until then; Wi-Fi and latency readings carry on. Network Test (1.1) shows “The cloud test allowance is used up for now; it frees up gradually over the week. A local iperf3 server still works.”
Rate limit, speed bursts (/v1/down, /v1/up)300 requests per 60 sKeyed on install ID + client IP, per Cloudflare data centre.
Rate limit, other calls (/v1/meta, /v1/ws, /v1/voice)60 requests per 60 sSame keying. Over the limit, the app shows “The test server is busy — try again in a few seconds.”
Download size10 MiB default, 100 MiB maxPer request.
Upload size100 MiB maxPer request.
Edge-latency socket (/v1/ws)200,000 messages, each ≤ 1 KiBThen the socket closes (about 5.5 h at 10 a second).
Internet-call socket (/v1/voice)540,000 frames, each ≤ 256 bytesThen the socket closes (3 h at 50 a second).
Install IDRequired on every callA random ID ARRF creates once and keeps in the Keychain (it survives reinstall on that device). It carries no identity; it keys the rate limits and the allowance.

The server’s routes are GET /v1/meta, GET /v1/down, POST /v1/up, GET /v1/ws and GET /v1/voice.

LimitValueNotes
Cubes kept per survey20,000About 2 hours of continuous capture. Past that, ARRF halves the survey by keeping every other cube, newest kept, so coverage stays roughly even.
Samples per AP for AP location estimates600Thinned the same way past the cap.
Points to open Results3A survey with fewer cubes is saved to History with a note instead.
Readings to grade10Fewer shows “Too few readings to grade” (N/A, not F). The same 10 applies to experience cubes.
History thumbnail128 dotsThe walk is downsampled for the History row.
Cube label fields4Up-close label fields chosen in Settings.

An iPhone running iOS 17 or later, with ARKit. ARRF is iPhone-only and runs in portrait. A LiDAR iPhone (a Pro model) is not required: LiDAR adds the floor plan and wall occlusion, and every other feature, surveys included, works without it.

LimitValueNotes
APs per survey6Manual AP list and RUCKUS One venue surveys alike; the lobby asks you to narrow a bigger venue.
RUCKUS One AP password reuseUntil 300 s before it expiresThen ARRF fetches a fresh one. Passwords rotate roughly every two days.
Identify My Phone scan4 failed polls in a rowWith nothing heard from any AP, the scan stops and offers Retry.
