Deposits

Deposits let the AI take money before it commits your calendar. During the call, it texts the caller a payment link and holds the slot until the payment clears. If it doesn’t clear, the slot goes back on the board automatically.

This is the feature that kills no-shows on long jobs — one saved three-hour bay slot pays for the month.

  1. The caller agrees to a job that has a deposit configured.
  2. The AI holds the slot and texts a payment link to the caller’s phone.
  3. The caller pays on their phone, usually while still on the call.
  4. On payment, the appointment is confirmed and the caller gets the normal confirmation text.
  5. If the hold window passes without payment, the hold expires, the slot is released, and — if you keep a waitlist — it can be offered to the next customer.

Every state is visible in the dashboard, so you always know whether a booking is paid or still pending.

Settings → Deposits:

  • Default deposit amount — used for any service that doesn’t override it.
  • Hold window (minutes) — how long a slot stays reserved awaiting payment. Short enough that dead holds don’t block your calendar; long enough that someone can put down a wrench and pay.
  • Refund policy and refund cutoff (hours before appointment) — the policy the AI states and the point after which a deposit is no longer refundable.

Per-service deposit amounts live on the service itself in Services & prices, so a $50 hold on a detail job and a $200 hold on a charter can coexist.

A text with a payment link from your business name. Payments are processed by Stripe — card details never touch StrandCalls, and never touch you.

Deposits add friction. They earn their keep when a no-show costs you a block of time you can’t refill. They cost you bookings on quick, high-volume, low-value jobs. Start by putting deposits only on your longest or most-flaked services and watch what happens to your booking rate.

Deposits are available on every plan — turn them on in Settings → Deposits. They’re off until you enable them. See Plans and billing.
