Adopting to a platform
The Adoption wizard configures the switch’s management networking and points it at a management platform — RUCKUS One or SmartZone — then watches for the switch to register.
1. Pick the platform

Behind the scenes ICX Setup applies the matching CLI line — controller ruckus-one <tenant-url> or controller smartzone <controller-ip> — as the last
step of the configuration.
2. Configure management networking
Section titled “2. Configure management networking”The Network Config step sets up how the switch reaches the platform:

3. Apply and wait for the connection
Section titled “3. Apply and wait for the connection”ICX Setup writes the network and controller configuration, saves it, and then polls the switch for up to two minutes (checking every 10 seconds) for a real controller connection — it reads the management interface for an assigned IP and checks the controller status reports “connected” or “registered.”
Two outcomes are normal:
- Connected — the switch reported a live controller connection. Done.
- Connection pending — the configuration applied cleanly but the switch hadn’t registered yet within the window: “Configuration applied, but the switch hasn’t reported a controller connection yet. It will keep trying — check the management platform in a few minutes, or retry.” This isn’t a failure; the switch keeps trying on its own.

What you need
Section titled “What you need”- The platform details above (tenant URL, or controller IP/port).
- A reachable management network — DHCP, or static addressing details.
