Features and feature flags

R1-MCP ships more capability than most people need at once. Rather than putting everything in front of every user, features are opt-in per account — you turn on what you use, and Claude’s tool surface grows accordingly.

Manage them in the Features section of the R1-MCP dashboard.

Why they’re flags and not just always on

Section titled “Why they’re flags and not just always on”

Every enabled feature adds tools to the code_mode description Claude reads on every request. Enabling everything makes Claude slower and less focused. Turn on what you actually use.

No password — toggle them yourself.

FastIron documentation search plus the end-to-end ICX switch configuration workflow. Full-text search over the command reference and configuration guides, scoped to a specific firmware train so the syntax you get matches the switch you’re configuring. See ICX switches.

An inbound webhook receiver plus analytics built on the events it collects: incidents, client troubleshooting, admin audit trails, anomaly detection, event watches, and roaming analysis. See Webhooks and analytics.

Documentation search over RUCKUS Edge.

Confirm-before-write. Any mutating call is previewed to you — including which tenant it targets — and must be confirmed before it executes. If you let Claude near a production tenant, turn this on. See Write Guard.

A held console session to devices (device_cli), plus MOP — Method of Procedure — authoring, recording, replay, and export, with an unattended autopilot mode. See Live CLI and MOPs.

Capture, plan, and apply lab hardware swaps between saved configuration sets, with export/import and configuration restore. See Test beds.

Venue extraction and copy tooling — snapshot a venue’s configuration, plan a copy, verify it, and undo it.

Password-gated. Ask for access if one of these fits your work.

call_r1_gql against the RUCKUS internal GraphQL services — analytics (network health, incidents, config change, client and incident troubleshooting), IntentAI, Service Validation, and Zoom Call QoE — plus schema reference docs.

Introspection is disabled on those services, so R1-MCP ships reference documents instead; Claude fetches the relevant one before composing a query.

On-LAN ground truth via Probe MCP. R1 tells you what the controller believes; the probe tells you what’s actually on the wire. Linking the two lets Claude reconcile them.

Sixteen ds_* tools driving a headless Apache Superset to build and publish charts and dashboards from R1 data.

An in-dashboard console surface.

Workflow prompts are gated the same way as tools — enabling a feature adds both its tools and its prompts. After changing features, reconnect the connector in Claude so it picks up the new list.
